Stay in Motion!
Precise navigation, reliable environment perception and efficient load handling.
Picking up, securing, and transporting loads presents numerous challenges for automated guided vehicles. First, the AGV must precisely dock at the right transfer station. During loading and unloading, it must be ensured that the load carriers are reliably detected and correctly positioned. In addition, both the load carriers and the transported materials must be identified quickly and reliably.
From docking to load positioning and detection to load identification, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a broad portfolio of compact and robust sensors that are ideal for use in automated guided vehicles.
Find out how to solve your individual load handling application with the right sensor technology!
To achieve the highest possible throughput in material handling, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) must be reliably navigated in every situation. Whether free navigation, floor-based navigation, or motion tracking—Pepperl+Fuchs offers powerful, state-of-the-art technologies in the field of navigation and guidance.
Regardless of harsh environments or safety-relevant areas: Depending on the requirements of the application, the right systems are available for smooth and efficient processes.
Navigate your AGV reliably with sensors and solutions from Pepperl+Fuchs!
Whether in logistics centers, on factory premises, or in office buildings—AGVs must accurately detect their surroundings at all times to rule out collisions with people and objects.
This requires the use of special technologies. Pepperl+Fuchs offers reliable sensors and systems for this purpose, such as the USi-safety ultrasonic sensor system with safety approval according to ISO 13849-1 category 3 PL d or the R2300 3-D LiDAR sensor with the highest angular resolution in its class. These and other sensors enable precise and reliable environment perception, therefore ensuring smooth operations when using AGVs.
Protect people and objects from collisions with unique sensors and technologies from Pepperl+Fuchs for environment detection!
When loading and unloading automated guided vehicles at transfer stations, the position of the load must be precisely detected. To ensure correct transfer, an R2300 3-D LiDAR sensor is mounted on the vehicle's mast. This provides measurement data as the AGV approaches and as the load is loaded, which is available to the control system as a 3-D point cloud.
Learn moreWhen transporting trolleys or racks, automated bots move into a recess under the load carrier to lift it. A PGV read device mounted on the top of the vehicle identifies the load carrier with the aid of a Data Matrix tag. At the same time, the orientation of the read device to the tag determines the relative position of the vehicle. In this way, the PGV positioning system ensures precise alignment of the vehicle and safe transport of goods.
Learn moreWhen transporting goods, AGVs should navigate from point to point with high accuracy. The R2000 LiDAR sensors with Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT), which are used for this purpose, are the world’s leading solution for precise navigation: With the greatest angular resolution in their class, they offer 360° all-round visibility. Therefore, they provide highly accurate measurement results for determining the absolute position.
Learn moreTo precisely determine their own position, AGVs need additional data besides that provided by optical sensors. For this task, two measuring systems are combined: a rotary encoder and a 2-D LiDAR sensor. ENI58IL, TVI40, or MNI series incremental rotary encoders are mounted on the wheels and provide relative motion data, which is offset against the absolute position data provided by the 2-D LiDAR sensor. This enables exact position determination.
Learn moreTo ensure that people are protected from collisions in all directions of travel, AGVs such as automated forklifts must be safeguarded in accordance with ISO 13849-1 category 3 PL d. The USi-safety, the only ultrasonic sensor system in the world with this safety approval, enables reliable monitoring of three-dimensional spaces.
