The increasing use of robotics in manufacturing creates both opportunities and challenges: More and more processes need to be able to adapt to changing objects and conditions. This requires flexible sensor solutions like the enhanced SmartRunner Matcher Extended, which can store up to 32 reference profiles. This allows it to verify the correctness of a variety of objects without time-consuming reconfiguration. The new light section sensor can detect target displacement within a defined tolerance range and display the displacement in the x and z direction. This ensures smooth, precise gripping and positioning processes and minimizes downtime by preventing product damage.
The improved SmartRunner Matcher Extended is based on a unique combination of light section sensor and 2-D vision sensor with integrated LEDs. Optimized and preconfigured for specific applications, the sensors can activate, detect, and match one of the previously saved reference profiles. The measuring process is not affected by surface condition or color. And SmartRunner technology reduces complexity by transforming raw data into easy-to-process “good” or “bad” signals. Operation and integration are simple, too—with no PC, special expertise, or skilled personnel required. With its compact housing, the SmartRunner Matcher Extended can be easily installed in space-restricted applications. A 90-degree swiveling connector also increases flexibility.
