As the leading solution provider for mobile computing and communication in hazardous areas, the Pepperl+Fuchs brand ecom continuously develops their portfolio of intrinsically safe mobile devices for hazardous areas and harsh environments. Now ecom presents the successor of the successfully established Tab-Ex® series for use in hazardous areas: the intrinsically safe Tab-Ex® 02 series. The tablet comes with a variety of standard features and innovative functions that make digital applications mobile beyond company borders. The Tab-Ex® 02 is ideally suited for Industry 4.0 applications.
Just like the previous model, the Tab-Ex® 02 has been developed in close cooperation with Samsung Electronics, the market leader for tablet PCs. The tablet computer is based on the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2. It is equipped with many innovative features, including a faster processor and the latest Android N operating system.
The potential combination of powerful software and connection to higher-level systems is the ideal requirement for complex applications—paving the way for IIoT applications. Using Augmented Reality Apps creates a mobile AR workspace, where machines and processes can be visualized and monitored in real-time—regardless of whether during operation, maintenance, or repair. This leads to an increased transparency, a higher plant availability, and enables faster and more efficient process flows.
Additionally, the Tab-Ex® 02 has great usability credentials: With a user interface that is known from the consumer sector, its handling is intuitive and user-friendly.
The new Tab-Ex® 02 series has a robust design, state-of-the-art technology, and meets the highest safety requirements. Like all ecom tablets, it is available as a rugged version for harsh industrial environments or an Ex model for global use in Zone 2/Division 2 as well as Zone 1/Division 1 in future. The base device comes with both IP68 type of protection and the military standard MIL. These attributes make the Tab-Ex® 02 a reliable companion for mobile workers under adverse or hazardous operating conditions.
