The certificates issued by notified body are generally also valid after a standard has been replaced with a new version. The respective manufacturer guarantees that the contents of the certificates conform to the new version of the standard and documents this information in an updated declaration of conformity. Pepperl+Fuchs follows this procedure.
This procedure corresponds to the EU's Blue Guide from 2022, Chapter 4.1.2.5.
In harmonized standards, the essential requirements for obtaining conformity are documented, such as technical specifications or measuring procedures for the purpose of assessment. Standards may be changed for various different reasons—for example because of objections from the Member States of the European Union or as the result of technical development.
Products manufactured in accordance with an old certificate can therefore also remain compliant with the essential requirements and be brought onto the market.
