PGV Read Heads

At the heart of the position guided vision positioning systems are the read heads. Consisting of a camera system with an internal illumination unit and powerful signal processing, the PGV and safePGV read heads are rugged and compact. They fit perfectly into even the smallest driverless transport systems (AGVs). With IP67 protection, the PGV and safePGV are also suitable for outdoor use.
Powerful LEDs make the read heads insensitive to environmental influences. Neither extraneous light nor highly reflective surfaces impair the performance of the PGV and safePGV. This means contrast bands are not required. The large reading window combined with 2-D image recording ensures that the read heads reliably detect even damaged or dirty tracking tape.
The PGV positioning system comprises four basic read head versions that are tailored precisely to the different application requirements. The system therefore offers the right read head for every application, from the standard device to the highly specialized safety version.The read heads are available with all common interfaces. Plug-and-play connectivity makes them easy to get up and running along with the code and color tape. The camera is parameterized via the vehicle control unit, a parameterization tool, or code cards.

The All-Rounder Read Head
The PGV*F200* offers flexible navigation options using color track tape, Data Matrix code tape, Data Matrix tags, or a combination. This flexibility ensures maximum investment security and future-proofing. Its extra-large reading window, combined with 2-D image capture, reliably detects damaged or dirty tapes, while its ambient light insensitivity over 100,000 lux eliminates the need for extra contrast tapes. The open protocol allows integration with any controller, and the plug-and-play installation ensures easy handling.

Safe Navigation to SIL 3/PL e Standard with Just One Sensor
The safePGV read head makes it possible to use a single sensor to achieve safe absolute positioning and identification up to with SIL 3/PL e. It can be used wherever applications have to meet the highest safety requirements—such as when people may come into contact with the plant and when reliably identifying vehicles and plant areas. The unique combination of a special 2-D read head with a multicolor Data Matrix code tape enables the output of secure data directly from the sensor.

Especially Economical and Extra Compact
The PGV*F213 read head has been specially developed for small AGVs and bots in fleet management. The read head works with red light, and navigation is carried out using either Data Matrix tracks or Data Matrix tags. With its compact housing, it is ideally suited for confined spaces in bots and small AGVs. This device variant is also available with an integrated TCP/IP interface, enabling direct connection to PCs or single-board computers for especially cost-effective applications.
