G20 Series Motor Control Modules

The G20 control modules for MDRs have an application-optimized, slim design that allows direct installation in the mounting rail of the roller conveyor line. All connection cables for sensors and motorized rollers are already integrated in the module. The flat cable for communication and/or powering can easily be inserted in the last step.

With the available communication protocols AS-Interface, IO-Link, and ZPA as well as the option of controlling either 24 V or 48 V motorized rollers, the G20 series offers maximum flexibility and efficiency in your conveyor technology application!

The modules in the G20 series are compatible with all common motorized rollers and offer maximum flexibility for use in conveyor technology. Due to the wide range of variants and protocols, motor control modules with AS-Interface or IO-Link interface and ZPA modules with integrated logic for zero pressure accumulation are available. 

Seamless Integration

The compact housing design and the sophisticated piercing technology allow for easy and quick integration of the G20 modules into a wide variety of conveyor lines. The tool-free piercing technology enables the pre-assembly of individual conveyor segments, which can be put into operation directly on site.

In addition to simple installation, the G20 series impresses with a user-friendly operating concept and a clearly laid out status display. This helps to detect and rectify faults in the system at an early stage.

Increased Cost-Efficiency

As the sensor-actuator cable is already integrated in the module, no additional cables are required for wiring. Depending on the application requirements, motorized rollers can be controlled with 24 V or 48 V; as the 48 V motorized rollers boast a better performance, fewer power supply units can be installed along the conveyor line and potential savings can be fully exploited.

Due to their compact design, the G20 motor control modules can be installed directly in the mounting rail of a roller conveyor.





The G20 modules from Pepperl+Fuchs are available with different protocols such as AS-Interface or IO-Link, or as stand-alone ZPA units. This means that the optimum solution can be selected for every roller conveyor application.

All modules are equipped with a flat cable connection that enables tool-free installation using the piercing technology. Sensor and actuator cables are also integrated in the, allowing the conveyor line can be set up cost-effectively and without any special prior knowledge.

Pre-Assembly of Individual Conveyor Segments

You have the option of ordering individual conveyor segments pre-assembled together with all modules and settings. In the final step, the yellow flat cable and the sensors are integrated on site so that the system can be put back into operation immediately.

The G20 module with IO-Link makes most of its benefits at points with a high IO density, such as buffer zones, sorting points or intersections with elevators, where it ensures a reliable flow of goods. It collects up to eight digital signals and controls up to four motorized rollers simultaneously.

G20 Module with AS-Interface
AS-Interface is used in extensive systems such as conveyor lines with widely distributed sensors and actuators to connect them with a higher-level programmable logic controller (PLC). Each ASi gateway is able to transmit data from up to 62 devices and a cycle time of 10 ms, whereas double gateways can take over up to 124 devices. The yellow flat cable is used simultaneously for the power supply and for bidirectional 4-bit data communication. This reduces wiring effort and ensures a neat system design.

G20 Module with IO-Link
As a communication protocol for process, parameter, and diagnostic data, IO-Link offers the possibility of solving complex conveying tasks with larger data volumes and a transmission rate of 230 Kbit/s (COM3). The motor control modules control up to four MDRs and can support both 24 V and 48 V motorized rollers in one device. A 16-DIO version with 16 freely configurable digital inputs/outputs is also available for digital IOs. Due to the larger data bandwidth, IO-Link brings more transparency and flexibility to conveyor systems, while the integrated data storage function minimizes downtimes.

G20 ZPA Module
The G20 ZPA modules for zero pressure accumulation are suitable for long, straight conveyor lines and loading zones. There they control the infeed of packages on conveyor belts—thus preventing damage and unwanted collisions. The standalone plug-and-play modules with integrated logic operate completely independently and are particularly quick and easy to commission. A total of more than 256 modules can be integrated along a conveyor line. As there is no need for communication via a higher-level PLC, data transmission and response times are minimized.
