Type Z/ Ex pz Purge System is Compact, Flexible, 100% Automatic

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces the latest addition to its Bebco EPS line of proven purge solutions; the 5500 series purge and pressurization system. Bringing a modern approach to the safe and economical Ex p protection method, this Type Z / Ex pz purge system delivers a fully automatic solution in a compact, 316L stainless steel design.

Combined with global certifications, menu-driven programming, and automatic leakage / temperature compensation, the 5500 is the all-in-one solution for Div. 2 / Zone 2 applications.

“The 5500 series is comprised of three components, which include a control unit, an EPV vent, and a pneumatic solenoid or manual valve. The compact (5x5x4) control unit can be internally or externally mounted and provides an easy-to-use interface, enabling users to select from a list of custom programs that fits the exact needs of their particular applications,” says Kristen Barbour, Product Marketing Manager. “Users can also define temperature ranges to control and alarm critical temperatures within the purge enclosure. When a critical temperature is reached, a solenoid displaces air or initiates heating or cooling functions within the enclosure to keep equipment operating safely and productively.”

Additionally, when the control unit detects a drop in pressure, it automatically compensates to ensure that pressure within the enclosure does not fall below the minimum value. This leakage compensation helps prevent alarm shutdown and keeps processes up and running, saving valuable time and money.

Universal Vent Design

The EPV-5500 vent works with the 5500 control unit and valve to provide a functional, certified purge and pressurized system for enclosures. The EPV-5500 vent functions as a pressure relief device, enabling the purge gas to exit the enclosure while providing a seal when the enclosure is pressurized and operating. The mechanical construction of the vent supports universal mounting to easily fit in cabinet or machine housing designs.

This 5500 series has third-party worldwide approvals for NEC, CEC, IEC Standards and CE Directives for Class I,II,III/ Division 2, and Zone 2 and 22 environments.
