Pepperl+Fuchs is expanding its comprehensive portfolio of identification solutions with the introduction of the IUT-F190-B40 UHF RFID read/write device, which offers an integrated industrial Ethernet interface and REST API. Using these interface technologies, the IUT-F190-B40, which is designed for medium detection ranges, can be quickly and easily integrated into OT and IT systems, making it an attractive solution for production control and monitoring, track-and-trace applications, and other Industry 4.0 applications in factory automation.
The IUT-F190-B40 offers the same key advantages as the other solutions in Pepperl+Fuchs' F190 product family: Its rugged IP67 cast housing and a broad temperature range make it suitable for use even in especially challenging industrial environments. Based on UHF RFID technology, this solution achieves high ranges (up to 6 m) and detection speeds and supports multi-tag reading.
The built-in, automatically switchable antenna polarization ensures reliable identification even when the tag orientation is inconsistent or unknown. With an integrated antenna and very compact housing, the device is suitable for confined installation conditions, without compromising on transmission power and detection range: Emitting 1000 mW ERP with housing dimensions of just 114 x 112 x 63 mm makes the IUT-F190-B40 top of its performance class on the market.
Whereas Pepperl+Fuchs' other RFID read/write devices were mainly used in PLC applications via function blocks and the IDENTControl evaluation unit, the IUT-F190-B40 can be easily integrated into IT systems using the REST API. The UHF read/write device can be fully parameterized and operated via this interface, eliminating the need for PLC programming. This greater flexibility provides easy integration and quick customization to suit dynamically changing identification tasks. In addition, the integrated web interface of the IUT-F190-B40 can be used for parameterization and commissioning.
In addition to the industrial Ethernet interface and REST API, the IUT-F190-B40 has two inputs and one output. As a result, light barriers can be connected directly via the UHF read/write device, making it possible to start and stop the read operation as required or to detect the throughput direction—all without additional IO components. Via the output, a signal light can indicate that the device is ready for operation or that a read operation was successful.
As the market leader, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a broad portfolio of sensor technology to facilitate such applications. This technology is based on various sensing principles and can be seamlessly integrated with the IUT-F190-B40 RFID read/write devices. In addition, an extensive range of cables and connectors manufactured by Pepperl+Fuchs is available for connecting the RFID read/write devices and sensor technology. Various tag type options enable optimal customization of the respective application. All this means that users benefit from a "one-stop shop" approach and receive optimally matched components from a single source.
