High-Temperature Identification System

Pepperl+Fuchs offers robust industrial identification systems for a wide range of manufacturing environments and processes. Our high-temperature identification system is designed for temperatures up to 500 °C.

Identification systems using barcodes or RFID tags are used for the automated manufacture of many products. In certain manufacturing operations, high temperatures are encountered in situations such as, drying, hardening of adhesives, and painting operations.

These manufacturing steps place heavy demands on RFID tags or barcodes. In some applications, if the tag is reusable, an RFID solution may be preferred.

In other settings, barcode labels or RFID tags must withstand alternating cycles of up to several hundred degrees. For some temperature excursions, electronic components or batteries in an RFID tag are unsuitable for this application.

The OIT high-temperature identification system is a direct part marked solution using a two-dimensional code that becomes a permanent part of the product. The symbology can be either an industry standard and recognized Data Matrix code or custom defined (and therefore secure). Using ECC200 Data Matrix standards, the data can be redundant and thus failure-tolerant. Dirt or paint do not affect readability because the contrast is optimized by using integrated infrared lighting.

Features:

  • Heat-resistant code sheets for temperatures up to 500 °C
  • Ideally suited for paint shops, bakeries and other high-temperature locations
  • Enables consistent identification throughout the production process
  • Simple connection to all common controllers
  • Identification of up to 1 million objects
  • Simple adjustment
  • One-piece housing design, no additional components
