The PosiTrack absolute linear encoder system from Pepperl+Fuchs provides fraction-of-a-millimeter position feedback to a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
Overhead monorails, conveyors, cranes, automated storage and retrieval systems…even elevators and theater stage lighting systems can raise their performance to new levels with the PosiTrack positioning system.
For safety applications, Pepperl+Fuchs combines the advantages of the proven WCS positioning system with a safe evaluation unit. The system consisting of the safe evaluation unit (Position Unit Safe, PUS) and two safeWCS/PUS read heads enables safe position and speed detection up to SIL 3 and PL e. The evaluation unit acts as a safe gateway to the fieldbus: It processes the redundant signals from the safeWCS/PUS read heads, creates a safe position value, and derives a safe speed value from it. In addition to the safe and non-safe data, it also transmits diagnostic data. The system supports the common safety protocol Fail Safe over EtherCAT® (FSoE) in order to transmit the acquired data from the sensor to a safe control system.
The U-shaped WCS read heads are particularly robust. They provide noncontact photoelectric scanning of the code rail. Even in difficult environmental conditions, the WCS read heads reliably determine position values. There are various options available to perfectly meet your needs. For safety applications, choose two safeWCS/PUS read heads that are combined with a safe evaluation unit (PUS).
To integrate the WCS into higher-level systems via standardized interfaces, Pepperl+Fuchs offers a broad portfolio of interface modules. Up to four read heads can be connected to one interface module simultaneously. Choose the right version for your application from various interfaces. For safety applications, you can choose the safe evaluation unit (PUS) combined with two safeWCS/PUS read heads.
Rugged and flexible code rails are required for read heads to work over a defined distance. Our dirt-resistant code rails are suitable for curved tracks, inclines, etc. In addition, Pepperl+Fuchs offers mounting bracket systems for the installation of code rails, aluminum profile systems for especially long distances, and a guide trolley that keeps the reader on track even in high-vibration applications.
Pepperl+Fuchs also offers a range of suitable accessories for the WCS positioning system. The portfolio includes shielded twisted-pair cables that are suitable for drag chains, WCS read head and guide trolley spare parts, as well as protective housings for retrofitting read heads.
