Transmitter power supplies transfer 4…20 mA signals from standard or SMART transmitters in hazardous areas and supply them with power. They deliver an isolated signal that is proportional to a measured value such as temperature, pressure, or flow from hazardous areas to safe areas.
The power supply and signal are transferred through the same conductors in 2-wire transmitters allowing only 4…20 mA signals. SMART transmitter power supplies repeat the transmitter current in addition to a digital signal, which is modulated onto the 4…20 mA signal.
