Suitable Firmware for VisuNet Remote Monitors and Box Thin Clients

To enable users of Linux-based systems to also benefit from the advantages of the VisuNet series, Pepperl+Fuchs now offers the hardware with preinstalled IGEL OS*. The platform-independent operating system for thin clients allows for simple, intelligent, and secure access to virtual applications, desktops, and cloud workspaces. With the new configuration option, the remote monitors of the VisuNet GXP and VisuNet FLX series, as well as the industrial box thin clients from Pepperl+Fuchs, can be quickly and easily integrated into setups in which IGEL OS is already implemented.

A third thin client option is intended for users who are implementing or already working with a Rockwell ThinManager architecture. In these cases, the thin clients are specially designed, configured, and tested with Rockwell as a “ThinManager Ready” client*. These solutions have a BIOS that is pre-loaded and ready to connect to the ThinManager server. Just like the solutions with RM Shell and IGEL OS, the ThinManager Ready options are available for the entire VisuNet HMI portfolio.

For users of the VisuNet RM Shell, Pepperl+Fuchs offers the VisuNet Control Center. This innovative add-on software is specially optimized for the firmware and allows thin clients to be managed efficiently from a single location. The time-consuming entry into hazardous areas or clean rooms is no longer necessary. Administrators can remotely set up monitors, install updates, use remote commands, and even connect via session shadowing to support plant personnel in the event of an error. As a central administration point, the Control Center simplifies support, saves resources, and increases the availability of thin clients. IGEL OS users can also use the Universal Management Suite (UMS) to centrally manage their thin clients.
