Installation and maintenance procedures in process plants should be carried out precisely and safely, but at the same time as quickly as possible. Manual searches often prove to be a costly and time-consuming obstacle, for example when the required product documentation is not immediately available or information from different manufacturers is available in different formats.
As a member of the Digital Data Chain (DDC) consortium, Pepperl+Fuchs is actively helping to solve this problem: Users of the well-known "K-System" and "H-System" interface module series will find QR codes on numerous representatives of these series (KC*, KF*, HIC* plus associated termination boards) in the future.
This represents another important step on the way to fully digitizing the Pepperl+Fuchs portfolio.
If such a QR code is scanned with a smartphone or tablet after lifting the front flap of the module, a website opens that displays both the product documentation and standardized device-specific data (in accordance with DIN SPEC 91406 or IEC 61406) such as the serial number or the year of manufacture.
In the future, users will benefit from time- and location-independent access to comprehensive device information without having to carry around product documentation in paper form. In addition, the product information can be automatically displayed in the relevant language variant.
