Digital Input

For processing input signals from binary sensors or mechanical contacts from the field, Pepperl+Fuchs offers highly reliable digital input modules for use in Zone 2, Class I/Div. 2 explosion-hazardous areas. As part of our LB system remote I/O solution, these modules feature Ex i terminals and are ideally suited for connecting NAMUR proximity switches, optocouplers, or volt-free contacts.

A mechanical contact or switch can also be used with an isolated barrier and mounted with parallel or serial resistors to simulate operation of a NAMUR initiator.

LB system remote I/O digital inputs are available in the following versions:

• 2- and 3-channel versions address the needs of users that appreciate granularity of their system and easy commissioning.
• 8-channel versions ensure the highest possible utilization of backplanes used for module connection and enable compact remote I/O solutions with large channel numbers.

The modules support lead breakage detection and short circuit detection. Galvanic isolation separates the inputs from bus and power. In addition, the modules are hot-swappable which allows quick and easy module replacement without time-consuming system shutdowns.
