Intrinsic Safety Ex ic and Non-Incendive Ex nL in Zone 2/ Div. 2

For Ex ic explosion protection, field instruments installed in Zone 2/ Div. 2 are connected to the FieldConnex Segment Protectors. Additionally, in combination with selected power supplies, the voltage is limited on the trunk line, and the R2 Segment Protector provides the current limitation for certified Ex ic instrument connections. For legacy installations utilizing non-incendive (Ex nL) explosion protection FieldConnex® Segment Protectors with Ex ic ratings can be used for replacement and small extensions.

The trunk is installed using protective wiring methods to prevent unintended disconnect or premature decay caused by corrosion or chemicals.
